Russian troops continue to storm the Hirske and Popasna communities. On May 12, in the Luhansk region, the enemy opened fire on residential buildings 31 times.
Two people were killed in the shelling: a man from Lysychansk, who was injured on May 11, and an 11-year-old boy from Zolote, who was hospitalized to Dnipro, - announced in Telegram by the Head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration [RMA] Serhiy Haiday.
Yesterday, seven high-rise buildings were damaged in Severodonetsk, one - in Lysychansk.
"However, the Popasna and Hirske communities suffered the most. The occupiers carried out assaults in the direction of Orikhovo and in the Komyshuvakha district. They were not successful in advancing, but many houses were destroyed - more than 50 houses. 15 in Vrubivka, 12 in Zolote, 11 in Komyshuvakha, 6 in Toshkivka, 4 in Troitske and 9 in other villages of the Popasna community. In addition, during the day rescuers eliminated the fire in a coal warehouse in Lysychansk, - the head of RMA said.
He added that the enemy continues to focus on establishing full control over Rubizhne.
"The bridge, which was the first in Luhansk region to be rebuilt after the expulsion of the occupiers in 2014, has been destroyed - the transport connection between Severodonetsk and Rubizhne no longer exists. I hope this is for a short period of time," Haiday said.
According to him, in eight years the bridge over the Borova River has suffered from the occupiers for the second time. After its destruction in July 2014, it was rebuilt in March 2015. At the time of reconstruction, residents used a pontoon bridge built by the Ukrainian military.
Yesterday, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced that the russians are conducting active hostilities in the Lyman, Severodonetsk, Popasna, Kurakhiv, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Novopavlovsk areas. The goal is to establish control over Rubizhne, capture Lyman, Severodonetsk and Mariinka.
Near Belogorivka (6 km from Lysychansk), the russians are trying to create a bridgehead to attack Lysychansk. In the direction of Siversk, the enemy attacked Zelena Dolyna and Novoselivka, where active fighting continues.
