The United Kingdom is coordinating with its allies a potential plan to send warships to the Black Sea to escort ships exporting Ukrainian grain, reported by "Interfax-Ukraine" with reference to The Times.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis discussed the creation of such a "protective corridor" from Odesa with British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, the newspaper notes.
According to the plan, "Allied naval forces will clear the area around the port of russian mines to ensure the transportation of vital products."
It is also planned to deploy long-range missiles in Ukraine "to deter any attempts by russia to sabotage the corridor."
The day before, Pentagon Chief Lloyd Austin thanked Denmark for promising to provide Ukraine with a batch of long-range anti-ship missiles "Harpoon" to protect cargo ships exporting grain.
Due to russia's blockade of Ukrainian ports, it is impossible to export 20 million tons of grain.
