A group of Colombian soldiers will travel to Europe to teach Ukrainian colleagues demining, - stated by Colombian Minister of Defense Diego Molano, writes The Guardian.

Experts from Colombia, a NATO partner country, have been invited by the United States to conduct the exercise.

"The training will be conducted by 11 military engineers who will go to a NATO member state neighboring Ukraine," the defense minister said.

Nearly 60 years of internal conflict between the armed forces, left-wing insurgents and right-wing paramilitaries have made Colombia one of the most mined countries in the world. According to the government, more than 2,300 people have died from mines in the country since 1990.

Yesterday, US President Joe Biden officially granted Colombia the status of a major ally of the United States outside the Alliance. Representatives of Colombia yesterday joined a meeting of defense ministers of more than 20 countries.
