Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has declared a state of emergency in Hungary due to the war in Ukraine, Hirado reports.
In a video message on Facebook, Orbán said that "the authorities who took the oath today immediately started working. We did not lose a minute, because there is a war in the neighborhood. A war that no one sees the end of."
«This war poses a constant threat to Hungary, putting our physical security at risk and threatening the energy and financial security of our economy and families. We see that the war and sanctions in Brussels have led to a huge economic shock and a sharp rise in prices», said the Hungarian Prime Minister.
According to Orbán, this state of emergency, like the one imposed during the COVID-19, will allow the authorities to react immediately and protect the state and Hungarian families by all possible means.
A state of emergency has been imposed since midnight on May 25. Orbán promised that "tomorrow I will keep you informed of our first decisions."
EU foreign ministers failed to approve the sixth package of sanctions against russia over Hungary.
The other day the European Parliament called for an oil embargo against russia, despite Hungary.
