The bodies of two civilians with signs of torture have been found in the village of Hrakove, Kharkiv Region, which has been liberated from the occupiers.

Criminal proceedings are carried out under the procedural direction of the Chuhuyiv district prosecutor's office on the fact of violation of laws and customs of war, combined with premeditated murder (part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), the Prosecutor-General's Office said.

Hrakove was liberated on 7 September. After the de-occupation, a local resident turned to the police and said that the Russian military forced him to bury the bodies of two men.

"On 9 September, law enforcers found two bodies with gunshot wounds in the back of the head and with signs of torture near a private property. According to the preliminary version of the investigation, the victims were killed by Russian servicemen in March during the occupation of the village," the prosecutor's office said.

The bodies have been sent for forensic examination.
