Russian troops massively shelled Mykolayiv after 1 a.m., killing two people and injuring three, city mayor Oleksandr Senkevych and regional military administration head Vitaliy Kim have said on Telegram.
The strike damaged residential houses in addition to a school and infrastructure facilities, causing fire. Rescue services are mitigating the consequences.
The debris is being cleared to make way for public transport.
According to Kim, the city is likely to have been targeted with S-300 missile systems.
