The IRIS-T air defence system supplied by Germany is already operating in southern Ukraine, RBC-Ukraine has reported quoting Ukrainian Air Force Command spokesman Yuriy Ihnat.
He noted that the IRIS-T modification, which was made available to Ukraine, is not yet available in the world.
Ihnat added that Germany should be interested in creating new similar air defence systems.
"IRIS-T is a good system. Although it is not long-range, it is very promising and can work in the same information field with other systems such as NASAMS or Patriot," he said.
According to Ihnat, Ukraine should soon receive NASAMS systems.
"With this system, it may be easier to supply it to Ukraine because missiles for them are in sufficient quantity in the United States," he said.
Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov recently said that IRIS-T is already in Ukraine and thanked the German colleague for the support.
