The Kyiv city state administration has said that the capital's authorities are not currently preparing for the full evacuation of residents, the head of the municipal security department, Roman Tkachuk, has said, according to Suspilne.

"The system is ready for such a step, but this does not mean that we are now preparing to evacuate [residents]," Tkachuk said.

In this way, he explained what he meant when he spoke about the possibility of a complete evacuation with The New York Times, as quoted in the article " Kyiv Planning for Total Evacuation if It Loses Electricity".

Tkachuk said in a comment to the NYT that the capital's authorities are preparing for the possible evacuation of 3 million Kyiv residents in case of a complete power outage due to Russian shelling.

Earlier, Kyiv mayor Vitaliy Klitschko did not rule out a complete blackout in the capital and asked its residents to prepare for a bad scenario.
