Polish Defence Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said that Poland would host Patriot air defence systems.

According to Blaschak's post on Twitter, he made this decision after a conversation with representatives of the German Defence Ministry.

"After a conversation with the German Minister of Defence, I have disappointedly taken the decision to withdraw from supporting Ukraine. Deploying Patriot in western Ukraine would have enhanced the security of Poles and Ukrainians," Blaszczak said.

He added that the Polish side is starting to install air defence systems and connect them to its guidance system.

Earlier, Germany offered Poland a Patriot missile defenсe system to help it protect its airspace. This happened after the downing of the missile on 15 November.

Poland said it was ready to transfer the systems to Ukraine if there were no objections from Germany. Later, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that NATO member states are discussing the provision of Patriot air defenсe systems to Ukraine. Recently, the Pentagon confirmed that it is considering the transfer of Patriots.
