The EU approved the ninth package of sanctions against Russia on 16 December, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has tweeted.
"I welcome the agreement on the 9th sanctions package against Russia. It focuses on tech, finance and media to push the Russian economy and war machine further off the rails," she said.
It sanctions almost 200 individuals and entities involved in attacks on civilians and kidnapping children.
In the ninth package of sanctions, the EU planned to expand the list of individuals against whom restrictive measures were applied by almost 200 positions. Sanctions against three banks and restrictions on dual-use goods, including drones, are planned. Russia wants to ban direct exports of engines for UAVs and exports to any third countries, such as Iran, that could supply drones to Russia.
