The State Budget of Ukraine has received a grant of USD 2 billion from the World Bank Trust Fund, the press service of the Finance Ministry reported.
This is the second tranche of the grant of USD 4.5 billion. The funds were provided by the United States of America through the Trust Fund of the World Bank as part of the Public Expenditures for Administrative Capacity Endurance in Ukraine.
The grant funding will be aimed at ensuring pension payments, civil defence workers' salaries and paying for medical services under the medical guarantee program.
“From the first days of the illegal russian invasion of Ukraine, the United States has supported us in all the possible ways, including financial assistance for the State Budget in the form of grants. Such assistance is extremely important, as it not only helps to preserve an opportunity to execute priority social payments in full and on time but also allows to not increase the further debt burden on the state budget,” Minister of Finance Serhiy Marchenko said.
Overall, since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, Ukraine has received USD 12 billion in grants from the US. Thus, the US is the largest donor of direct budget assistance among all partner countries in 2022.
