Ukrainian Deputy Defence Minister Hanna Malyar told during a telethon how the losses of Russian occupiers are calculated and why the figures are approximate.
Malyar noted that there are different approaches to estimating losses and difficulties in these calculations.
"In the conditions of active combat, it is difficult to physically count the people who died. There is a battle going on, both commanders and fighters have another task...", - said the Deputy Minister of Defence.
She added that another difficulty is the inability to physically get to the territory where there are dead.
"Another issue is that there are some types of lesions that actually leave no traces unless you can somehow identify the bodies by DNA. The figures are rather relative," Malyar noted.
Another option is to count by military equipment. In this case, one estimates how many personnel it can hold and, accordingly, makes assumptions about possible enemy losses.
The Deputy Minister of Defence also informed that the commanders of the units would send updated information on the losses of the invaders within a few (3-4) days.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has already lost approximately 102,600 soldiers in the war in Ukraine.
