The Defence Forces have not yet observed any Russian preparations for an offensive in the area of Vuhledar or in Avdiyivka District, Oleksiy Dmytrashkivskyy, head of the joint press centre of the Tavriya Defence Forces, has said on the air of the news telethon.
According to him, Russia's 155th Marine Brigade, which was almost completely destroyed by Ukrainian defenders in early February, has "re-emerged". He assumed that the brigade was replenished with mobilised soldiers who had not undergone the necessary training.
"So far, observing the enemy, we cannot say that the enemy is preparing for an offensive in this area (Vuhledar - ed.). This is not very realistic because it is still a flat area and the enemy will have to attack our positions head-on, and they are not ready for this," Dmytrashkivskyy said.
According to him, the situation is similar in Avdiyivka District, where the Russians are attacking neighbouring Karlivka and Maryinka rather than Avdiyivka itself.
