On 28 July, the head of the National Police, Ivan Vyhivskyy, introduced Dmytro Shumeyko as chief of the Kyiv police.
According to the press service of the National Police, prior to that, Police Col Shumeyko was the acting head of the capital's police directorate.
"I saw Dmytro Oleksandrovych in the most difficult moments for the capital, even during the shelling of Kyiv he proved to be a professional responsible leader, he was one of the first to arrive at the scene," Vyhivskyy said.
