Russian troops have started using chemical weapons against Ukrainian positions in the Zaporizhzhya sector. Nine cases of Russian use of chemical weapons were recorded during the day, Dmytro Lykhoviy, spokesman for the Tavriya Group, has told the news telethon.
"The Russians carried out 950 attacks, including nine simultaneous drops of chemicals from drones in tear and suffocation grenades. This is a violation of the Chemical Weapons Convention," he said.
According to the spokesman, Russians have started using chemical weapons in this sector more often. "We have nine drops in one day. Almost all of them are in Zaporizhzhya Region in the Zaporizhzhya sector."
In January, Capt Andriy Rudyk, a representative of the Centre for Research of Trophy and Advanced Weapons and Military Equipment, said that Russia was increasing the use of gas grenades with banned lethal substances.
