On the night of 25 March, Russia's attack on the southern part of Ukraine was focused on Mykolayiv and Odesa Regions. To mislead air defence, the enemy first launched an X-31P anti-radar missile at Odesa Region before launching attack drones.
The missile lost its combat capability in the air. There was no information on damage or casualties, the South operational command said.
"Then Russians attacked with several waves of Shahed-131/136 drones from the Black Sea. Four attack UAVs were shot down in Odesa and Mykolayiv Regions," the statement said.
There were hits. In the Mykolayiv Region, the enemy hit an energy facility, causing a fire. There were no casualties.
"The enemy drones traditionally flew among residential areas of settlements. As a result of the downed Shahed falling in the private sector of Mykolayiv, a two-storey residential building was destroyed, and a fire broke out, which was extinguished by the SES. The blast wave damaged several nearby houses. According to preliminary data, 11 people were injured, two were hospitalised, and the rest were provided with first aid on the spot," the OC added.
In Odesa, the wreckage of a downed drone damaged a power facility and caused a fire, which cut off power to part of the regional centre and nearby settlements. There were no casualties.
As a result of the attack in Odesa this morning, the power supply is out. Some kindergartens are also without power, but parents were urged to feed their children at home as the kitchen will not work.
