Support for the possible participation of Polish military personnel in the war in Ukraine has increased in Poland.

These are the findings of a poll conducted by the United Surveys centre "What kind of assistance should Poland provide to Ukraine?", the RMF24 writes.

The publication notes that a similar study was conducted a year ago. Back then, the approval of sending the Polish army to Ukraine was zero, and support for allowing Polish citizens to participate in hostilities was at 3.4%.

This time, 27.1% of respondents said that Poland should allow its citizens to fight in Ukraine, while 9.4% believe that Warsaw should send its troops abroad.

Humanitarian aid to Ukrainians continues to enjoy the greatest support (75%). The Poles also support the provision of military equipment to Kyiv - through the supply of both ammunition, light weapons and grenade launchers (67.6%) and heavy equipment such as tanks and aircraft (54.1%).

Experts explain this change by the "Macron effect", referring to recent statements by the French president, who stressed that the deployment of NATO troops to Ukraine cannot be ruled out.

The survey was conducted on 8-10 March 2024 using a mixed method with a sample of one hundred people.
