Talks about a second Russian offensive on Kyiv are groundless. As of now, there is no threat, the head of the Defence Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate, Kyrylo Budanov, said in an interview with BBC Ukraine.

The journalist also asked him to comment on the information from CIA head William Burns, who said that he had warned the Ukrainian authorities about Russia's preparation of a full-scale attack, including an attack on the airfield in Gostomel. Budanov confirmed that Ukrainian intelligence also had this information.

"Listen. There are stories that cannot be erased. It seems that in October we were the first to publicly say that, yes, the situation is threatening, we are planning this, that and the other. If you look up (the archived news), there was a diagram with arrows showing how, where, what should go. Just compare it with what eventually happened," he said.

Asked whether he had passed this information on to the president and what response he had received, Budanov said: "I'm not going to talk about it now.”
