Ukraine is counting on $300 billion from the confiscation of Russian assets.

This was stated by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal at a press conference, according to an LB.ua correspondent.

According to him, it is now necessary to develop a mechanism to receive the first $50 billion, which will become an economic cushion for the coming years.

‘Our ultimate goal remains unchanged - to confiscate all $300bn of frozen Russian assets. We see 50 billion as the first step and consider it as our airbag for the coming years in terms of delays in funding and other unforeseen factors that may occur.

According to him, these 50 billion for Ukraine should be ‘unconditional, they should be irrevocable, interest-free. That is, these are funds that we receive from our partners as an advance payment from the confiscation of Russian assets for all the losses and destruction that Russia has caused in Ukraine through its full-scale invasion,’ he added.

Therefore, one of the main tasks is to develop a mechanism for Ukraine to receive this 50 billion.

‘This should be one of our main resources for the next year and the years to come. This year, we have already received a support package from the US, about $4 billion, and we will receive another $4 billion this year after we have taken the appropriate steps that we have agreed with our partners. We have received funds from the IMF and today we are already in the fifth review, which is a very special record for our country,’ he said.
