Russia has received Fath-360 short-range ballistic missiles with a range of 120 square kilometres from Iran and is likely to use them against Ukraine in a few weeks.

This was stated by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken during his visit to the UK, Sky News reports

"Dozens of Russian military personnel have been trained in Iran to use Fath-360 short-range ballistic missiles. Russia has now received deliveries of these ballistic missiles and is likely to use them in Ukraine against Ukrainians in a few weeks," he said.

"Russia has a number of ballistic missiles of its own, but the supply of Iranian missiles allows Russia to use more of its arsenal for targets further from the front line," Blinken added.

He also noted that relations between Russia and Iran are a "two-way street" and the Kremlin shares technology with Iran, particularly in nuclear issues and satellite data.

The US shares intelligence with allies and partners and works together to make sure that Tehran's actions have significant economic consequences. Blinken said that today the US will announce further sanctions against Iran.

British Foreign Secretary David Lammy, in turn, said that the supply of ballistic missiles from Iran to Russia is "certainly a significant escalation".

However, when asked whether he would approve of Ukraine's use of long-range Storm Shadow missiles to strike targets in Russia, the British Foreign Secretary said he would not comment on "operational matters".

Blinken and Lemmy also announced that they would travel together to Kyiv later this week, which the British minister said would be "the first joint visit of its kind in more than a decade".
