Over the year, Ukrainian air defence systems shot down more than 1,300 missiles and 11,200 enemy drones.

According to the Air Force, Ukrainian aviation flew more than 20,000 sorties during the year, almost 9,000 of which were for the combat use of Western weapons.

Despite the enemy's daily attacks, the Air Force, along with the entire Defence Forces, continues to hold the sky over Ukraine. In 2024, air defence destroyed more than 1,300 missiles of various types, 1,200 attack drones, and 3,200 reconnaissance UAVs of the operational and tactical level.

The defenders shot down 40 enemy aircraft and 6 helicopters.

The Air Force noted that in 2024, the enemy used significantly more missiles and attack UAVs against Ukraine's critical infrastructure than last year. A large number of drones imitating real ‘chessmen’ have appeared. In this way, the enemy is trying to complicate the air situation as much as possible, overload our air defence systems and exhaust our defenders of the sky. In addition, enemy aircraft have launched tens of thousands of guided bombs at the frontline territories, wiping out Ukrainian frontline towns and villages.

During this year, the enemy has increased both the production and use of ballistic missiles in Ukraine, including North Korean KN-23.

‘For almost three years of the great war, our soldiers have been deterring the Russian invasion, fighting for the future of the state and the Ukrainian people. Ukraine still needs maximum support from the West, the supply of weapons, air defence systems and modern multi-purpose aircraft in order to defeat the enemy and reliably close the skies over Ukraine,’ the Presidential Administration said.
