In 2024, Russia lost more personnel than in the first two years of a full-scale war. Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyy said this in an interview with the Bombardyr channel.
"The Russians still have an advantage in terms of personnel and equipment, but Ukraine is making progress. The army is actively defending itself, in particular in the Pokrovsk direction, where the occupiers had a significant advantage in forces and means.
There, they had 4-4.5 times the advantage over us. I remember that we were predicted to lose Pokrovsk back in September. And you see, it's still standing. However, if we count all the enemy's losses over the past year, they exceed all the losses they suffered in the previous two years, i.e. 22-23," said the chief.
Russian troops suffered its biggest losses in Bakhmut.
"Our least losses and the enemy's biggest losses were in Bakhmut. Defence Minister Reznikov used to speak and give figures that it was 1:7 or even more. The enemy has never suffered such losses anywhere else," he said.
According to the General Staff, Russian casualties during the full-scale war amounted to more than 880,000 people. This includes both killed and wounded occupants.
