Heorhii Tykhyi: No agreements on alleged “trilateral consultations” with Hungary and Slovakia on Druzhba pipeline

There were no agreements on any supposed “trilateral consultations” between Ukraine, Hungary and Slovakia regarding the Druzhba pipeline, said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi, according to Ukrinform.

“It is impossible to refuse something that was never planned. And even more so something that is being pushed at the last minute as a ‘de facto agreement’,” Tykhyy stressed.

He added that this has become a typical Hungarian approach — “they made something up themselves and then accused us.”

The spokesperson also recalled that on 14 March, a detailed briefing was held at Naftogaz for the diplomatic corps. Representatives of 31 countries, including the Hungarian ambassador, were provided with full information about the state of the Druzhba pipeline.

Earlier, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó claimed that Ukraine had “refused” to participate in trilateral consultations with the energy ministers of Slovakia and Hungary, allegedly scheduled for 16 March.

Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry denied these claims, stressing that no such consultations had ever been planned.
