Defence Minister Mykhaylo Fedorov stated that Ukraine already possesses missiles with a range comparable to that of the German Taurus KEPD 350.
He made the remarks during a briefing with his German counterpart, Boris Pistorius, according to Interfax-Ukraine.
Commenting on the relevance of supplying Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine, Fedorov said that Kyiv is always open to receiving additional weapons, although it already possesses missiles with a similar operational range.
“If we’re talking about the Taurus, then of course we already have missiles that operate at similar ranges and beyond. But you can never have too many such weapons,” he said.
“But in reality, we are already gaining a certain degree of independence in this area. We have all seen strikes against Russia at a range of 1,500 km. Ukraine is therefore doing its homework well,” Fedorov added.
- In March, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz emphasised that Germany currently had no plans to supply Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine. He also noted that Ukraine already possesses long-range weapons, some of which were produced with German assistance, enabling the country to defend itself effectively.
