In April 2026, Ukraine’s air defense intercepted nearly 6,000 Russian drones and missiles.
This was reported by the DefenseMinistry.
Over the month, the enemy launched:
- 6,583 drones — 5,861 shot down or suppressed (89%);
- 141 cruise and ballistic missiles — 89 shot down (more than 63%).
Overall air-defense effectiveness in April was 88.5%. On some days, 92–95% of targets were downed.
“The most massive drone attack occurred on April 1, when Russia launched 700 unmanned aerial vehicles. Major combined strikes involving 600–700 drones and missiles also took place on April 3, 16, and 25, and on April 15 Russia simultaneously launched 21 cruise missiles — Ukraine’s air defenses shot down 20,” the statement said.
The Ministry of Defense noted that the biggest challenge remains repelling strikes by ballistic missiles. Patriot systems can counter them, but Ukraine lacks missiles for these complexes.
