The Huliaipole front remains difficult. It is the only sector of the southern operational zone where the Russians are trying to go on the offensive, Yurii Syrotiuk, sergeant major of the 5th Assault Brigade’s drone systems battalion, said on the national telethon.
The enemy concentrated three armies there as far back as last year and tried to push deeper into Dnipropetrovsk Region. In most sectors, including the Oleksandrivka sector, the Russians have largely lost what they managed to seize.
“The Oleksandrivka–Huliaipole axis is one direction. As soon as the enemy loses ground on the Oleksandrivka sector, it tries to gain at least something on the Huliaipole sector. That is why it continues to use infiltration tactics. There are assaults with small armored vehicles. Recently, for example, they were driving across the open steppe — it’s like a death sentence. Obviously, they were detected long before they could get close to the forward edge,” Syrotiuk said.
The enemy has a numerical advantage, so it is trying to move beyond Huliaipole. The Defense Forces are conducting search-and-strike operations and destroying the enemy.
“The enemy’s advance here has seen no particular success for more than half a year,” he said, stressing that intense fighting is ongoing constantly.
The enemy moves every day, launches large numbers of drones and guided aerial bombs, and carries out remote mining.
