The Security Service of Ukraine has detained a resident of Beryslav district in Kherson Region who is suspected of collaborating with the occupation authorities during the seizure of the region.
This was reported by the SBU in Kherson Region.
According to the agency, during the occupation the woman voluntarily joined an illegal “precinct election commission”. As part of it, investigators say, she took part in organising and conducting an illegal referendum on the “annexation” of Kherson region by Russia.
After Kherson Region was liberated, the suspect moved to Kharkiv Region. Later, law enforcement officers say, she was preparing to leave for Germany.
SBU officers detained the woman before she crossed Ukraine’s state border.
She was served with a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 28 and Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court ordered a preventive measure of remand in custody.
The comprehensive measures were carried out by officers of the SBU Directorate in Kherson Region under the procedural supervision of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
