On the night of 22 September, the Russian army attacked Ukraine with missiles of various types and drones. Air defences neutralised 186 targets. The main directions of the strike were the Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad and Poltava regions.
This is stated in a report by the Air Force.
Starting from 18:00 on 21 September and throughout the night, the enemy attacked with:
- Oniks anti-ship missiles from Russia’s Rostov region;
- Iskander-M/S-400/KN-23 ballistic missiles from Russia’s Kursk, Rostov and Voronezh regions;
- 4 Kalibr sea-launched cruise missiles from the Caspian Sea;
- 8 Banderol/Dan-T from the airspace over Russia’s Belgorod region;
- 212 Shahed-type strike UAVs (including jet-powered ones) and Parodiya-type decoy drones from the directions of: Oryol, Millerovo, Shatalovo, Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk – Russia; temporarily occupied Donetsk; Hvardiiske, Chauda – temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
The air attack was repelled by aircraft, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Defence Forces of Ukraine.
According to preliminary data, as of 08:00, air defences shot down and suppressed 186 targets:
- a Kalibr cruise missile;
- 8 Banderol/Dan-T;
- 177 Shahed-type UAVs, Gerbera and drones of other types.
Impacts by enemy missiles and strike UAVs were recorded at 22 locations, and falling debris at 4 locations.
The attack is ongoing, with enemy UAVs in the airspace.
