The Centre for Countering Disinformation reported that it is recording a large-scale disinformation campaign attempting to discredit the Ukrainian Defence Forces’ ‘Vivaldi’ operation.
According to the CCD, a network of anonymous accounts, as well as pro-Russian sources posing as Ukrainian, are circulating posts that manipulatively play down the operation’s achievements and claim it supposedly has a “political character”.
The enemy is also spreading unverified information about “unjustified human losses”.
In addition, there has been a surge of comments under such posts from dubious accounts promoting the same narratives.
“The nature and scale of the spread of such publications indicate a targeted disinformation campaign, the aim of which is to discredit the Ukrainian Defence Forces, diminish our forces’ successes at the front, and destabilise the domestic political situation in Ukrainian society,” the Centre for Countering Disinformation said.
What Is Known About Operation ‘Vivaldi’
- The 3rd Army Corps is conducting an offensive in the north of Donetsk region.
- The operation is called ‘Vivaldi’ and until now has been conducted under a complete information blackout, the 3rd AC press service said. The first stage was aimed at eliminating the infiltration of Russian troops and disrupting their logistics.
- The military stressed that a key factor in the success was systematic strikes on field fuel depots in Luhansk region. Brigadier General Andrii Biletskyi said that thanks to the effective work of unmanned systems units and mid-strikes, the enemy was forced to dismantle the pipeline through which it supplied fuel from Russia. As a result, the Russians moved supplies of fuels and lubricants to Voronezh region, and the evacuation distance for the enemy division’s equipment increased by approximately 250 km.
