On the night of 24 September, the Russian army attacked Ukraine with Zircon missiles, ballistic missiles and various types of drones. Air defences neutralised 227 Russian targets, including anti-ship and ballistic missiles.
This is stated in a report by the Air Force.
Starting from 18:00 on 23 September, the Russian forces attacked with:
- anti-ship Zircon missiles from Russia’s Kursk, Rostov and Oryol regions,
- Iskander-M/S-400/KN-23 ballistic missiles from Russia’s Kursk and Bryansk Regions,
- 282 Shahed-type strike UAVs (including jet-powered ones), Gerbera,
- loitering munitions Banderol/Dan-T, Parodiya-type decoy drones from the directions of: Oryol, Millerovo, Shatalovo, Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, the temporarily occupied territory of Donetsk, Hvardiyske, Chauda — the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the waters of the Sea of Azov.
The main directions of the strike were Odesa and Kyiv Regions.
The air attack was repelled by aircraft, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Defence Forces of Ukraine.
According to preliminary data, as of 08:00, air defences shot down and suppressed 227 targets:
- 4 anti-ship Zircon missiles;
- 3 Iskander-M/S-400/KN-23 ballistic missiles;
- 1 Banderol/Dan-T;
- 219 enemy Shahed-type UAVs, Gerbera and drones of other types.
Impacts by the Russian air attack weapons were recorded at 13 locations, as well as falling debris in 10 places.
The attack is ongoing, with dozens of Russian UAVs in the airspace.
