North Korea has sent its soldiers to fight in Ukraine to plug gaps in the Russian army, which is sustaining heavy losses.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in a speech at the UN General Assembly.
He said Russia has lost a huge number of people for the sake of occupying more than 1,000 sq km of Ukrainian land, much of which the Armed Forces of Ukraine have already liberated. Zelenskyy said Putin is paying for every new kilometre with the lives of 248 of his soldiers. In particular, between January and August the occupiers lost 248,964 people on the battlefield in Ukraine.
The Ukrainian President also drew the international community’s attention to the involvement of North Korean troops in the war against Ukraine. Zelenskyy said Kim Jong Un is using his soldiers as currency, receiving in return technologies to improve ballistic missiles and drones, which already poses a threat to the whole of Asia.
The Ukrainian President noted that Ukraine recently handed over two North Korean prisoners of war to the Republic of Korea. One of them tried to take his own life when he was captured, because North Korean propaganda completely deprives people of freedom.
Zelenskyy stressed that a war not stopped in time continues to spread, and urged the world not to give aggressors more time to learn the art of war.
