Latvia’s Foreign Minister Baiba Braže has added Russian citizen Sergey Fedotov to the list of personae non gratae.
The decision was taken in line with the provisions of the Immigration Law, imposing an indefinite ban on Fedotov entering Latvia, Delfi reports.
Fedotov is the father of Yuliya Stepanenko, a candidate for Latvia’s prime minister from the alliance “Sovereign Power / Association of Young Latvians”.
Journalists found that the man and his company “Forma ŽBI” had for several years provided financial and material assistance to the Russian military in its war against Ukraine. In particular, his company produced anti-tank barriers and stoves for the occupiers, and Fedotov himself handed over vehicles to funds supporting the Russian army.
Fedotov confirmed his family ties to the Latvian politician. Previously, she had refused to explain the origin of expensive gifts from her father, and after travel restrictions were introduced, Fedotov transferred ownership of his flat in Riga to his daughter.
