The Security Service of Ukraine has detained in Volyn a collaborator who had been wanted for three years for cooperating with the enemy in the Luhansk region.
As reported on the SBU website, the suspect, who worked as chief accountant at a seized enterprise producing equipment for Russia’s coal industry, travelled to western Ukraine on personal business.
The investigation established that in 2015 she took part in the “re-registration” of the plant with the occupation authorities of the so-called “LPR”. After that, the enterprise began supplying products to Russian mines and paying “taxes” into the Russian budget. From September 2016 to January 2020, the suspect transferred more than UAH 1.5 million to the occupiers.
The SBU said the woman acted as part of a criminal group together with the plant’s owner — a former “LPR deputy” — and two “directors general”. In 2023, the security service’s investigators served them with notices of suspicion in absentia for financing actions aimed at changing Ukraine’s territorial boundaries, after which they were placed on the wanted list and the case materials were sent to court.
The detainee is currently being held in custody. She faces up to 10 years’ imprisonment with confiscation of property.
