Ukraine and Poland are working out action protocols at border checkpoints during air-raid alerts and Russian shelling.

The countries want to guarantee people’s safety while preventing a systemic reduction in the border’s throughput capacity.
First Deputy Minister for Restoration Serhii Derkach met at the Yahodyn–Dorohusk checkpoint with representatives of Polish voivodeships, the interior and finance ministries, and border and customs services from both countries. They agreed procedures to be followed directly at crossing points during threats. This includes rapid information-sharing between services, evacuating people, temporarily suspending vehicle processing and resuming it as quickly as possible immediately after the danger has passed.
Particular attention at the checkpoint was given to rail links. Meeting participants discussed how to organise the safe processing of trains, protect passengers, locomotive crews and rolling stock, and avoid delays to services.
In addition, officials discussed expanding joint controls at crossing points. Five such points are currently operating on the Ukrainian–Polish border, where checks are carried out in one place. To broaden this practice, the sides are working on an intergovernmental agreement that will allow Ukrainian border guards and customs officers to work officially on Polish territory.
