Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, together with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, visited the site where a Russian drone hit the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in Kyiv, the president reported on social media.
As a result of the attack, two people were killed and seven others were injured.
"The strike was aimed specifically at the academy. We know for certain it was a deliberate strike; there is relevant video. Russian terrorists simply wanted to hit the Academy of Sciences and destroy it. An absolutely horrific attack," the president said.
Zelensky also thanked Merz for coming to the site of the attack despite the air-raid alert.
"This is an important and courageous signal from the chancellor personally and from all of Germany. Thank you, Friedrich," the president said.
