The court sentenced the traitor to 15 years’ imprisonment with confiscation of property; the SBU exposed him in July 2025 while he was adjusting shelling of Kharkiv.
As reported on the Security Service’s website, the investigation established that the perpetrator passed the occupiers the coordinates of military facilities, as well as electricity and heat-generation enterprises in the regional centre. The Russians were planning new missile-and-drone attacks on these targets to disrupt preparations for the heating season and leave Kharkiv residents without light and heat.
The spotter turned out to be a local drug addict who had previously worked in the heat and power sector. The hostile special service recruited him via themed Telegram channels, where he was looking for money for another dose. The man travelled around Kharkiv and recorded the locations of new modular boiler houses, gas-turbine generators and the combat positions of air defence forces. He sent the collected data to his handler in Moscow Oblast in the form of Google Maps screenshots.
SBU officers detained the suspect at his place of residence and seized a smartphone and computer containing evidence of contact with the enemy. The court found the man guilty of high treason committed under martial law.
