Energy workers expect to restore electricity supply by the end of the day to all consumers in Sumy region who were left without power as a result of the Russian attack. At the first stage, voltage will be supplied in turn due to network constraints.
This is reported by Ukraine’s Ministry of Energy.
As a result of the Russian attack, around 200,000 consumers were cut off. As of now, around 4,500 customers remain without electricity.
During repair works, energy workers are forced to introduce temporary emergency outages, as it is impossible to repair equipment while it is live. Restoration efforts are being coordinated by the Ministry of Energy together with NPC "Ukrenergo".
On 24 October, Russia carried out a massive drone strike on the energy infrastructure of Sumy region. The targets were electrical substations that ensure electricity supply in the region, including in Konotop. These facilities have already been hit by Russia repeatedly.
- The Energy Ministry systematically transfers equipment from energy hubs to enterprises in Sumy region that regularly come under Russian attack. This year alone, they have been provided with almost 423 tonnes of humanitarian aid.
