This year, Ukraine has opened four negotiation clusters with the EU, and expects to open the rest by the end of the year.
Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi said this at the Euronews Enlargement Summit.
“At present, the priority is Cluster 1, ‘Fundamentals of the EU Accession Process’: judicial reform, anti-corruption efforts, and public administration reform. Together with the European Commission, we have set up a Task Force whose aim is to speed up the fulfilment of the interim benchmarks in this cluster,” the head of government noted.
Koretskyi said they want to receive a positive assessment of the fulfilment of the interim benchmarks at the beginning of next year.
“In the first half of 2027, during Lithuania’s presidency of the Council of the EU, we are counting on the provisional closure of seven chapters,” the Prime Minister concluded.
- Earlier, Ukraine and the European Commission discussed speeding up the fulfilment of interim benchmarks within the framework of accession talks with the European Union and opening the remaining negotiation clusters.
- At present, Hungary is blocking our country’s progress on European integration. Thus, following a meeting of the Council of the EU working group on enlargement in Brussels on 3 November, the Hungarian side once again refused to support further progress in the process of opening the final two negotiation clusters. Budapest is not putting forward demands or claims against Kyiv, nor any substantive objections.
