Today the situation in the antiterrorist operation (ATO) area in Donbas has significantly improved, although pro-Russian militants continue to violate a "full cease-fire" declared at the Minsk meeting on 13 January 2016, the ATO HQ has said in its daily update on Facebook.

Eleven shooting attacks on the ATO troops have been registered since the start of the day, all of them in the Donetsk sector.

Along the Svitlodarsk salient, militants fired small arms on the ATO troops near Novhorodske and Zaytseve. Near rebel-held Donetsk, they shot with small arms at Ukrainian servicemen near Avdiyivka, Pisky and the Butovka mine.

A sniper shot at a Ukrainian strongpoint near Opytne.

As reported earlier, the UN assessment mission will start its work in the ATO area as of 23 January.
