From midnight to 1800, the militants of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk self-proclaimed republics opened fire on Ukrainian servicemen 23 times, the press centre of the antiterrorist operation (ATO) HQ has said in its regular evening update.

The majority of cease-fire violations was registered in the area of Donetsk airport. The militants fired small arms, machine guns, grenade launchers of various types and an infantry fighting vehicle near Pisky and Opytne.

A 82-mm mortar was used near Troyitske in the early hours of the day.

A Ukrainian army strongpoint near Talakivka in the Mariupol sector was shelled with mortars, grenade launchers and an anti-tank missile system.

No engagements were observed in the Luhansk sector.

According to official reports, one serviceman was injured as a result of a shooting attack in the Mariupol sector on 26 January.
