Ukrainian nuclear plant unit taken off grid over failure

Energy generating unit No 4 of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant (Enerhodar, Zaporizhzhya Region) at 01:22 p.m. Kyiv time on 2 May was taken off the grid over the loss of pressure in the gas system of the turbine generator, the press service of the Ukrainian nuclear power plant operator, Enerhoatom, has said.

Repairs will last until 10:00 p.m. on 5 May.

Two power units of Ukraine's largest, Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant with the total capacity of 1,640 MW are now in operation. 

The radiation level at the site is within the norm.
