The past day in the zone of the antiterrorist operation in Donbass was tense as Russia-backed militants continued attacks on the positions of the Ukrainian military using the weapons prohibited under the Minsk agreements, the press center of the ATO reported.
Of the 31 attacks at the ATO forces last day, 14 attacks were in Donetsk, 11 in Mariupol and 6 in Luhansk sectors.
In the Mariupol direction, the hottest spot was near Krasnohorivka where from 9 pm to midnight, 82- mm and 120 mm mortars, tanks and 152 mm artillery systems fired at least 150 charges, mostly after dark. The enemy fired automatic grenade launchers close to Mariyinka, and small arms in the vicinity of the villages of Hnutove, Talakivka and Shyrokyno.
In the Donetsk direction, the positions of Ukrainian military were shelled near Putilivska (Butivka) from 82 mm mortars and close Zaytseve and Avdiyivka – from 120 mm mortars. Also, our positions were fired at from small arms, machine guns and grenade launchers near Mayorske and Luhanske.
The strong points in the Lugansk direction were shelled from grenade launchers of various systems outside Popasna and Novooleksandrivka. Near Novozvanivka the enemy used mortars.
In some cases, Ukrainian troops returned fire.
