Kyiv will host the Eurovision song contest in 2017, according to a decision announced at a press briefing on 9 September.
Ukrainian singer Jamala with her song titled 1944 won in the final part of Eurovision-2016 in Stockholm (Sweden). According to the rules of Eurovision, the next competition will be held in Ukraine.
The government announced a competition among Ukrainian cities that have expressed the desire to host the event.
Six Ukrainian cities - Kyiv, Dnipro, Lviv, Odessa, Kharkiv and Kherson submitted their bids, and Kyiv, Dnipro and Odessa made it to the finals.
The winner should have been named on August 1, but the announcement of the winner was postponed several times.
