Although separatist militants have kept a low profile in the antiterrorist operation (ATO) area since the morning, one Ukrainian serviceman was shot dead, the ATO HQ press centre has said.
"Two shooting attacks against our positions have been registered since the midnight. At around 4 in the morning, the enemy opened fire with small arms near Novooleksandrivka in the Luhansk sector. Our servicemen gave a symmetric response. As a result of this engagement, one Ukrainian serviceman was deadly wounded," it said in its evening update.
In the Mariupol sector, the enemy fired with a heavy machine gun at 1 p.m. ATO troops suppressed the attack with return fire.
On 22 September, one Ukrainian serviceman was wounded.
