A Ukrainian serviceman was killed in the antiterrorist operation (ATO) area in Donbas when he triggered an unidentified explosive device on 1 February. Three more Ukrainian servicemen were wounded by enemy fire on 2 February, the ATO HQ press centre has said.

There was a total of four shooting attacks by pro-Russian militants on 2 February, it added.

In the Donetsk sector, the enemy fired on the ATO positions near Avdiyivka for three hours with 82-mm mortars, grenade launchers of various types, heavy machine guns and small arms. In southern Donetsk Region, the enemy used 82-mm mortars and grenade launchers near Lebedynske and Pavlopil.

On 2 February, the ATO HQ press centre confirmed that the Ukrainian army had controlled the village of Katerynivka in Luhansk Region for a while now.
