Over 200 people took part in a rally outside the Museum of National History in Kyiv. They demanded the removal of a chapel of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate, which was built close to the foundation of the now extinct Tithe Church, according to Ukrayinska Pravda.

In addition to Kyiv residents, there were representatives of the Sich nationalist organization. They believe the historic area is not a place for a Moscow-run church. From time to time, they chanted "Away with the FSB [Russian Federal Security Service], "Away with criminals!" and "Away with a Moscow Bible-thumper".

There were also people who came to attend a Saturday service in the church. They were standing close with icons in their hands.

According to Ukrayinska Pravda, police briefly detained a person suspecting him of carrying a smoke bomb which proved to be a tube with documents upon inspection.

Last week, Kyiv's Shevchenkivskyy district court arrested Oleksiy Shemotyuk and Oleksandr Horban, who are suspected of attempting to set the Moscow-run church on fire, to 60 days.
