Areas of Donetsk Region controlled by pro-Russian militants owe Ukraine 2.8bn hrvynyas (0.11bn dollars) for water supply, the head of the Donetsk regional military-civil administration, Pavlo Zhebrivskyy, has said.
"Whereas the tariff in the controlled territory is around 30 hryvnyas, in the occupied territory it is still 7 hryvnyas, which is economically unjustified, but they do not pay the tariff anyway: the debt is around 2.8bn hryvnyas," he said on Facebook after a meeting with the directors of regional offices of the Voda Donbasa water supply company.
According to Zhebrivskyy, the company needs to raise salaries but this would require reconstruction, optimisation of spending and energy consumption.
