The Kyiv city council has banned the sale of alcohol in stationary points of sale from 11 p.m. to 10 a.m.
"We are only talking about the sale of alcohol in stores. We are not saying that it is bad to consume but there must be a culture and moderate consumption," Kyiv city councilor Vladyslav Mykhaylenko said.
According to him, 70-88% of Kyiv residents support restrictions on the night sale of alcohol, including wine, beer, alcohol and low-alcohol beverages.
The ban does not apply to restaurants, cafes and bars.
The previous attempt to ban the nighttime sale of alcohol was blocked by the Antimonopoly Committee.
