Speaker Andriy Parubiy has signed the bill on the functioning of the Ukrainian language as the state one (No 5670-D) after parliament has rejected four resolutions challenging it.

None of the resolutions received enough votes to be considered.

"I want to warn all those who think that the political situation has changed and are planning a revenge today, threatening us with courts, repealing laws. As soon as you try to revise the law on language or decommunization, or the church issue, you will face the wrath and strong will of the Ukrainian people. I am saying this not as the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, but as a citizen of Ukraine, Andriy Parubiy," he said.

The bill is yet to be signed by outgoing President Petro Poroshenko and published in the official press.
