The great holiday of Yom Kippur is traditionally the day when terrorists become more active; we grieve together with the relatives of the victims. This is how the vice president of the World Jewish Congress Boris Lozhkin commented on the terrorist attack in the German city of Halle, inform Interfax-Ukraine
In his Facebook account, Lozhkin recalled that Yom Kippur is the greatest holiday for Jews, and the law enforcement authorities have to be especially vigilant this day.
“Almost every year, terrorists all around the world become more active on this day, burning with hatred of Jews,” noted the Vice President of the World Jewish Congress
Lozhkin said that the attack in Halle occurred at the time when the local Jewish community gathered in the synagogue for the holiday prayers.
“A criminal in military style outfits, after opening fire on the people outside, tried to lay explosives under the door of the synagogue and to break in. He threw another pack of explosives into the Jewish cemetery located right there. Two persons – a man and a woman – died on the spot. There are also injured persons”, he commented.
“Jews around the world are in deep sorrow together with the relatives of the victims,” said the Vice President of the World Jewish Congress.
As previously reported, on October 9 in the city of Halle (Saxony-Anhalt, Germany) a terrorist attack was committed, as a result of which two persons were killed and several others were injured. The attackers opened fire near the synagogue, and also threw a grenade in the direction of the Jewish cemetery. According to the German media reports, one of the attackers was a 27-year-old German with far-right views.
